Vortex

Hurling through space and time at speeds unimaginable,
Our shell buffets violently with the forces of all that comes.

Inside the calm yearns to remain and hold its place,
Tenuous, fragile almost impossible to exist.

Physical laws show us unwavering truths but we resist,
Our condition only abides by emotion, logic is easily lost.

Fear, freedom from pain is at our core the only motive,
Why does our God hard wire such lunacy?

Fragile, so fragile just waiting for rejection or loss of control,
Burst into pain, lose our balance, cry for relief, cry for shelter.

These thoughts came to me as I watched a jet plane cut across the sky.  I imagined how calm those inside were and how violent the outside must be.  Fragile calm sheltered from the wind, coldness and buffeting, but for a thin shell.  A medifore for our very lives.
